Selinsgrove, PA – Susquehanna University broke an 8-8 tie with 1:15 left in regulation with two goals separated by just 21 seconds to pick up a 10-8 victory over Marywood University in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon.  The Crusaders improve to 7-6 on the season with the win while the Pacers, who got four goals from Sam Trill and three points from Marcus Janda in the loss, fall to 6-5 this spring.

Austen Lein opened the scoring just under two minutes into Wednesday afternoon's contest off a Dustin Breakey assist, but Marywood drew level with 5:43 to play in the first quarter when Trill scored after taking a pass from Ryan Nowell.  Trill put the Pacers in front 2-1 just 1:47 later with Dante Frederico assisting on the tally, but the Crusaders knotted the score at 2-apiece just seven seconds later when Luke Delevan found twine off a Lein helper.

Billy Spack scored unassisted just 29 seconds into the second quarter to give Susquehanna a 3-2 lead before Marcus Janda setup Riley Dobel for a man-up goal with 5:25 left in the half the retied the score at 3-3.  Lein's second goal of the game at the 4:38 mark gave the hosts a 4-3 advantage that the Crusaders would hold going into halftime.

Following the break, Janda netted the first two goals of the third period to give the Pacers a 5-4 lead.  Janda's first goal was set up by Greg Nester while his second came with Marywood on an extra-man opportunity with 13:04 left in the quarter.  The visitor's lead was short-lived though, as Trae Humphreys picked up the groundball ball off the ensuing faceoff and scored just 16 seconds after Janda had put Marywood in front.

Trill completed his hat-trick with 6:45 remaining on the third quarter clock after taking a pass from Joe LaBella, then netted his fourth marker of the afternoon with 2:51 left to stretch Marywood's lead to 7-5.  Susquehanna got goals from Delevan and Spack in the final 2:44 of the frame though to send the contest into it's final 15 minutes of play deadlocked at 7-aside.

Delevan finished off a hat-trick of his own off a Marcus Cheatham assist to put the Crusaders up 8-7 with 8:59 to play of the fourth quarter but Marywood was able to find the equalizer with just over three minutes to play when Nester scored unassisted.  Susquehanna would get goals separated by just 21 seconds to hold a 10-8 lead with 54 seconds left and were able to run out the clock to claim the victory.

The Crusaders, who held a 37-32 edge in shots for the game while winning the groundball battle 35-22, got four points apiece from Delevan (4 goals) and Lein (2 goals, 2 assists).  Jordan Daney made 13 save in Susquehanna's cage to earn the win.

Trill finished with four goals, including his team-leading 28th tally of the season, to pace Marywood's attack.  Janda added three points on two goals and one assist while Nester (1 goal, 1 assist) and Nowell (2 assists) added multi-point efforts for the Pacers.

Nicholas Cornella took the loss despite making 13 saves in goal for Marywood, who was led by John Pelligrini's five groundballs and two caused turnovers while Nick Johnson added four groundballs and a pair of caused turnovers while winning four of his seven faceoff attempts.

The Pacers converted on both of their extra-man opportunities on the afternoon while holding the Crusaders to one extra-man goal on five chances.

Marywood resumes the Colonial States Athletic Conference portion of their schedule on Saturday when they play host to Neumann University at 4:00 p.m. on the Pacers' Turf Field.
