Centenary Rallies for 9-5 Win Over Pacers

Flemington, NJ - Centenary College scored six runs in the sixth and seventh innings as the Cyclones rallied from a 5-3 deficit to defeat visiting Marywood University 9-5 in Colonial States Athletic Conference baseball action Friday afternoon at Diamond Nation in Flemington, New Jersey.  The Cyclones improved to 11-18 (6-7 CSAC) while Marywood fell to 15-11 (6-5 CSAC).

The hosts jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second but Marywood answered with a single run in the third to knot the game at 1-1.  Then, down 2-1, Marywood scored four times in the fifth, highlighted by a two-run single up the middle from Chris Ortiz, and the Pacers reclaimed a 5-2 lead. 

But the Cyclones did not go away quietly, and after getting one back in the bottom half of the fifth exploded for six runs over the next two innings to claim the important CSAC win. 

Nicholas DeFebo was handed his first loss of the year (5-1) as he allowed five earned runs on seven hits while striking out four.  Jason Pennypacker improved to 2-0 for the hosts after going five innigns himself for the win. 

Nicholas Pasqualichio was 2-for-5 with an RBI double for the Pacers while Ortize finished the game 1-for-3.  Joseph DiLoreto and Jason Aikens each pitched over an inning of relief for the Pacers. 

The two teams will do battle again tomorrow as the Pacers host the Cyclones in a doubleheader.  Game one starts at 12:00 noon.
