Dommes Propels Marywood to Sweep of Rosemont

Scranton, PA - Ashley Dommes went 4-for-7 with four doubles and six RBIs to lead Marywood University to a sweep over visiting Rosemont College Friday afternoon in Scranton.  The Pacers took the opener 9-1 in four and a half innings and the nightcap 11-3 in six.  Marywood, who has won six consecutive games, improved to 13-11 (11-1 CSAC) while the Ravens fell to 4-18 (2-10 CSAC).

In the opener, Marywood plated all the runs they would need over the first two innings of play, highlighted by a seven run second.  Meghin Palmer was 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored, while Dommes had a double and two RBI.  Jillian Flanagan was 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of RBI while Kayla Prompovitch tripled in a run.

Alexandra Stine (4-3) went three innings on the mound for the win, striking out six while allowing just one run on two hits.  Katherine King pitched the final two innings, fanning six as well while allowing just one hit.

Dommes exploded in the nightcap, going 3-for-4 while smacking three doubles and four RBI.  In her other at-bat, Dommes reached on an error.  Marywood held a 3-1 lead early, then scored eight times over the fifth and sixth innings to end the game early.  Kim Lope tripled for the Pacers, while Stine was 3-for-3 with two RBI at the plate in the second game.

Kaitlyn Jones went the distance to get her fifth win of the year (5-3), striking out five while allowing three runs on nine hits.

Marywood returns to action Saturday when they host Cabrini College in an important CSAC twinbill. Game one is set to begin at 1:00pm.
