Scranton, PA - In a battle of league leaders, Marywood University and Centenary College split their CSAC doubleheader Friday afternoon in Scranton.  The Pacers rallied for a 4-3 win in the opener thanks to a game-tying homer from Ashley Dommes in the bottom of the seventh and an RBI single from Mariah Runco in the eighth, while Centenary jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and hit two homers to take the nightcap 12-7.  After the split, Marywood stands at 16-12 (14-2 CSAC) while Centenary moved to 20-11 (16-2 CSAC).

In the opener, Marywood trailed 2-0 after the first inning.  In that inning, Centenary took advantage of an illegal pitch call to move a runner to second, then doubled home the go ahead run and added another run on a double-steal.

After Centenary went up 3-0 on a RBI single in the third, Marywood responded with their first two runs of the game thanks to a run on an error and a Kim Lope RBI double to left.  In the seventh, down 3-2, Dommes provided the early heroics with a solo homer to tie the game at 3-3 and force extra inings.  There, Meghin Palmer singled and stole second and promptly scored the winning run on Runco's game-winning RBI single to right.

Alexandra Stine got the win on the mound after pitching all eight innings for the Pacers, striking out three while allowing two earned runs.  Roxanne Keelan took the loss for Centenary in the opener despite striking out five and allowing just one earned run.

In the nightcap, Centenary jumped all over the Pacers in the early going, scoring five in the second and four more in the third to hold a early 9-2 lead.  Marywood responded with a four-run third, but the Pacers were limited to one run the rest of the way as the Cyclones secured the 12-7 win to salvage a split on their trip to Scranton.

Kim Kopesky went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI while Caitlin Veverka homered as part of her 3-for-5, two RBI and two-run nightcap.  Caitlyn Dean also homered for the Cyclones and was 3-for-4 with five RBI.

Meagan Madsen picked up the win for Centenary to improve to 10-6 on the year.  Kaitlyn Jones (5-4) took the loss for the Pacers after three full innings of work. Katherine King pitched the final four innings for Marywood, striking out six while allowing two earned runs.  Ashley Dommes was 3-for-3 with two doubles and 5 RBI in the nightcap for Marywood.

The Pacers return to the diamond Saturday when they travel to Immaculata University for a 12:00 noon doubleheader with the Mighty Macs. The twinbill's start time was moved up one hour in hopes of getting in both games before expected inclement weather.
