Immaculata, PA - Immaculata University took both ends of a doubleheader Saturday to drop Marywood University to 14-4 in league play and out of a tie for first place with Centenary College.  The Mighty Macs won game one 3-2 and the nightcap 4-3 to drop Marywood to 14-4 in league play (16-14 overall) while improving to 20-18 overall, 15-5 CSAC themselves.  The Pacers, who were in a first place tie with Centenary with just two losses entering the day, likely knocked themselves out of consideration for hosting the CSAC championships by virtue of the losses.

In the opener, Marywood struck in the top of the first when Kim Lope single, stole second and advanced to third on a groundout, then scored on a sacrifice fly to center from Kayla Pompovitch. The Might Macs answered with a run of their own in the bottom half of the frame on an RBI double, then took a 2-1 lead in the fourth on a sacrifice fly.

Marywood knotted the game at 2-2 in the top of the fifth when Lope scored on a Pompovitch RBI groundout to second, but the hosts scored in teh bottom of the seventh on an RBI single to win the game 3-2.

Alexandra Stine took the loss after going 6.1 innings, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out four.  Marywood was limited to just five hits in the game, three of which came from Lope as part of her 3-for-4, two run effort.

In the nightcap, Lope again went 3-for-4 with two runs and Meghin Palmer was 3-for-3 with an RBI but it was not enough as Immaculata won, 4-3.  The Mighty Macs scored in the first but Marywood went up 2-1 in the third thanks to an RBI single from Palmer and a RBI double from Prompovitch.  The hosts answered with the tying run in the bottom of the third, then scored twice in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead.

Marywood's last ditch effort in the bottom of the seventh yielded one run when Lope stole home as part of a double steal, but it was not enough as Marywood struck out then flied out with the tying run on second to end the game.

Katherine King took the loss for the Pacers after allowing four runs on seven hits over 4.1 innings.  Kaitlyn Jones pitched 1.2 innings of two-hit ball in relief.

Marywood's Sunday tilt with crosstown non-conference rival the University of Scranton has been postponed due to expected inclement weather.  Marywood's next scheduled competition is next Friday, April 27, when the Pacers host Philadelphia Biblical University in a CSAC doubleheader starting at 3:00pm.
