Camden, NJ - Host Neumann University completed a three-game sweep of visiting Marywood by taking both ends of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Pacers.  The Knights won the opener 13-3 before edging the Pacers 5-4 in a nine-inning nightcap.  Neumann improved to 23-11 (9-6 CSAC) with the wins while Marywood saw its record fall to 21-14 (8-7 CSAC).  Marywood closes the CSAC regular season Friday by opening an important three-game series with Gwynedd-Mercy in Scranton.

Neumann jumped all over Marywood in the opener, scoring nine of their 13 runs in the first three innings of play.  The Knights used a big six-run second to open the game up.  Mike Ciavarella took the loss for Marywood after allowing seven earned runs (nine total) on ten hits over three innings of work.  Joseph DiLoretto (2.1 innings) and Russell Baldino (0.1 innings) also pitched for the Pacers in the opener. Nicholas Pasqualichio was 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Marywood offensively.

In the nightcap, the Pacers trailed 2-0 entering the fifth inning but took the lead with a three-run fifth.  The Knights responded by tying the game in the bottom half of the frame, and each team would score once in the seventh to force extra innings.  There, after a scoreless eighth, the home team completed the win by scoring in the bottom of the ninth.

Jason Aikens went 4.2 innings for Marywood and was replaced by Tim Freda, who took Marywood into the seventh.  From there, Ryan Pelle pitched the final two innings, allowing just three hits but taking the loss after Neumann scored in the ninth.

Mike Diskin was 3-for-4 at the plate for the Pacers while Dominic Loughlin picked up two RBI.  Both Diskin and Loughlin had doubles for the Pacers.

The Pacers return to the field tomorrow to host Misericordia University, currently ranked 12th in the nation, in a non-conference nine inning game.  First pitch is set for 3:30pm.
