Scranton, PA – Marywood University dropped a 5-1 decision to Gwynedd-Mercy College in Colonial States Athletic Conference baseball action on Friday afternoon in Scranton.  The Griffins improve to 22-15 on the season with the win and 10-6 in the CSAC.  The Pacers, who got 8.1 solid inning from starting pitcher Mike Siciliano, see their record slip to 21-15 overall and 8-8 heading into a crucial doubleheader at Gwynedd-Mercy on Saturday.

Marywood took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning.  Mike Diskin laced a double down the left field line before being sacrificed to third on a Jonathan Woytach bunt.  Diskin would then score on a passed ball in the Pacers' next at bat.

Siciliano held GMC without a hit over the first four innings before the Griffins tied the game after getting two hits in the top of the fifth.  With runners on first and third, GMC executed a squeeze play to plate the tying run.

The Griffins took the lead in the sixth inning, getting an RBI single from Dante Cassano which brought home Josh Martin from second.  The visitors added a run in the eighth inning on a Marywood throwing error, than tacked on two more insurance runs in the visitors' half of the ninth inning.

Andrew Sinon (12-7) pitched a complete game for GMC to pick up the win, scattering five hits and striking out seven Marywood batters.  Siciliano (4-1) was just as impressive on the mound for Marywood while suffering his first loss of the season,  striking out six while also surrendering just five hits in 8.1 innings.  Russell Baldino got the final two outs in the ninth inning for the Pacers including one strikeout.

Diskin and Woytach had two hits apiece to lead the Pacers, who managed just two hits over the final six innings of Friday's contest.

Marywood will travel to Gwynedd-Mercy tomorrow afternoon for their final doubleheader of the regular season.  The Pacers need to win at least one of the two games, or have Immaculata University lose at least once to Keystone College tomorrow, to earn their first-ever berth in the conference playoffs.  First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. tomorrow in Gwynedd Valley.
