Bel Air, MD - Marywood University secured the #3 seed in the upcoming Colonial States Athletic Conference softball tournament by closing out the CSAC portion of  their regular season schedule with a doubleheader sweep of host Notre Dame of Maryland University Saturday afternoon at the Harford Sports Complex in Bel Air, Maryland.  The Pacers, who also notched the fourth 20-win season in the last five years, and fifth under Head Coach Bob Fitzsimmons, downed the Gators 8-0 and 14-1, both in five innings.  Marywood moves to 20-14 (18-4 CSAC) with the wins while Notre Dame fell to 3-23 (1-21 CSAC).

In the opener, Marywood pieced together a 4-0 lead after three innings by surrounding a two-run second with one run in each the first and third.  The Pacers then ended the game with a four-run fifth inning, putting the eight-run rule into effect.  Jillian Flanagan and Kaitlyn Jones each had two RBI to lead the Pacers, while Jones also went  the distance on the mound, striking out seven while allowing just one hit for the complete-game victory, her sixth of the season.

In the nightcap, Marywood's bats remained hot as the Pacers scored four in the first and five in the third, building a 10-0 lead before Notre Dame spoiled the shutout bid with a run in the bottom of the third.  Marywood would score four more times in the next two innings to make it 14-1 after five, ending the game.  Katherine King improved to 7-4 on the mound with a complete-game five-hitter.  King struck out five and did not allow an earned run.

At the plate, Kim Lope, Meghin Palmer, Kellsie Davis and Chelsea Zimmerman all had two hits apeice.  Davis picked up four of Marywood's 13 RBI in the game while Davis and Zimmerman both homered for the Pacers.

Marywood closes out the regular season tomorrow when they host Wilkes University in a non-conference doubleheader.  Game one begins at 1:00pm.
