Gwynedd Valley, PA – Marywood University pitchers Alexandra Stine and Katherine King allowed just three hits over two games and the Pacers evened their overall record at .500 on the year as they swept host Gwynedd-Mercy College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference doubleheader Monday afternoon.  The Pacers took the opener 10-0 in five innings and the nightcap 9-0 in six, and now stand to 11-11 on the year (9-1 CSAC).  GMC fell to 0-24 (0-12 CSAC) with the losses.

In the opener, the Pacers got all the runs they would need in the first inning after plating eight runs on five hits while taking advantage of two GMC miscues.  After scoring the first run on a wild pitch, two runs scored on a Jillian Flanagan RBI double to left.  Pitcher Alexandra Stine then helped her own cause by singling in Flanagan, and after a bases loaded walk scored a run, Meghin Palmer singled in two more.  Marywood tacked on two more in the top of the fifth by scoring on another wild pitch and getting another RBI single from Palmer.

Stine (3-3) was outstanding on the mound for the Pacers with a complete-game performance, allowing just two hits while fanning five batters.  Palmer was 4-for-4 in the opener with three RBI, while Flanagan's double gave her two RBI as part of a 1-for-3 game at the plate.

Marywood jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second game by scoring twice in the second and once in the third.  In the second, Flanagan tripled to center to score Ashley Dommes and then would score when Diana Butash singled to center.  In the third, Kim Lope doubled to open the inning and moved to third on a Palmer sacrifice bunt and would later score on a passed ball.

Marywood blasted GMC for four runs in the fourth to go up 7-0. After reaching on a fielder's choice, Palmer scored on a Mariah Runco single up the middle.  Then, another triple from Flanagan would plate three more runs to give Marywood a seven run cushion.

In the sixth, another three-bagger put the Pacers up 9-0.  Kayla Prompovitch tripled to right to score Kim Lope and Taresa Dongilli.
Flanagan finished the nightcap with a pair of triples and four RBI while Prompovitch was 2-for-4 with two RBI.  Lope was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored.

Once again, solid pitching from the Pacers left little hope for the Griffins. Katherine King went the distance on the mound, allowing just one hit, which came in the bottom of the first, while striking out four to get her fourth win of the year (4-3).

Marywood returns to the field this Friday when they host Rosemont College at 3:00pm in a CSAC twinbill.
