The Red Dragons won their second straight game and improved to 2-4 on the season, while the Pacers fell to 2-3-1.

Sophomore goalie Tim Beauvais made five saves to post his second shutout of the season for Cortland. Sophomore Arnold Gorr assisted on Morales' goal. Senior goalie Shane Quinn stopped seven shots for Marywood.

Each team had an early chance to take the lead. In the fifth minute, Marywood junior Christian Lawlor sent an open header off a Brandon Ritter cross just over the crossbar. Four minutes later, Cortland sophomore Chris McBride forced a turnover just outside the Marywood box, but his shot hit the underside of the crossbar and bounced straight down where Quinn was able to secure the ball.

In the second half, the Red Dragons created the first two good chances, but Quinn made a save on junior Bryan Merlos' straight-on shot from 12 yards out in the 55th minute and Quinn registered saves on back-to-back shots by freshmen Robby Reiser and Alex Wilson in the 68th minute. Marywood's best look to get on the scoreboard in the second half came in the 74th minute. Senior Bert Meekins was on the receiving end of free kick off the foot of Ryan Jones and sent a header just wide of the right post. Two minutes later, Morales connected for the game-winner. Gorr carried the ball down the right side, turned the corner and slid a pass across the box to Morales who one-timed a shot past Quinn at the left post.

Marywood returns to action this Thursday when they host DeSales University in non-conference action at 4:00pm.
