Marywood Notches First CSAC Win in Home Opener

Scranton, PA – Marywood University's volleyball team earned their first Colonial States Athletic Conference win of the season in their home opener on Thursday night, topping Immaculata 3-0.  The Pacers, who also snapped a five-game losing skid with the victory, improve to 7-6 on the season (1-1 CSAC) while the Mighty Macs see their record drop to 1-9 overall and 0-1 in conference play.


Marywood picked up their seventh win of the season with set wins of 25-10, 25-19, and 25-22 on Thursday evening.
 
Ashley Cavellier and Ashley Zalewski had seven kills apiece to lead the Pacers attack while Sara Melick and Kathleen Reilly collected four kills each as Marywood had a .238 hitting percentage on the evening. 
 
Kelly Chadwick recorded a match-best 25 assists while Rachel Tollett led the squad with 13 digs.  Amy Kester finished the contest with team-highs of three service aces and three blocks while the Pacers got a pair of aces from Tollett and Cavellier along with two blocks by Kathleen Reilly.

Allison Lang led Immaculata with eight kills and 13 digs while Jamie Rombach dished out a team-high 14 assists to go along with 13 digs.  Brooke Schreffler was the player to collect 13 digs for the Mighty Macs in the loss.
 
Marywood returns to action on Saturday with a pair of matches as part of the Marywood Tri-Match.  At 10:00 a.m., the Pacers will take on Rosemont College in a CSAC match before meeting up against Misericordia University in a non-conference tilt at 2:00 p.m.
