Scranton, PA - Marywood University's men's tennis team handed visiting Elmira College their first loss of the season as the Pacers improved to 2-0 on the year with a 9-0 win over the Soaring Eagles Thursday afternoon in Scranton.  Marywood will close out the fall portion of their season this Saturday when the Pacers host an alumni match at 2:30pm.  Prior to the alumni match, the 2011-12 men's tennis team will be recognized for last season's CSAC Championship and NCAA tournament appearance.  The recognition will take place at halftime of the 1:00pm women's soccer game. 

The Pacers made quick work of Elmira in doubles as Marywood built a 3-0 lead heading into singles action. At #1 doubles, Evan Bolus and Todd Doran were 8-3 winners, while Ethan Jones and Daniel Pfafman were 8-1 winners at #2 doubles.  At #3 doubles, Ryan Mulqueen and Frank Nicolosi kept the Soaring Eagles off the board with an 8-5 win.

In singles action, Marywood's Mulqueen earned a three-set supertiebreaker win over Satchal Waters at #5 singles in the only tight match of the afternoon.  Mulqueen came out victorious by a score of 6-4, 2-6, 10-5.

Doran and Pfafman won at #1 and #2 singles, respectively, by an identical score of 6-3, 6-2.  Bolus, Jones and Nicolosi each won at #3, #4 and #6 singles, respectively, by identical scores of 6-3, 6-4.
