Hackettstown, NJ - After trailing for much of the game visiting Marywood University took a one-point lead with 1:07 to play but could not hold off host Centenary College as the Pacers dropped a 70-66 decision to the Cyclones Monday evening in CSAC men's basketball action. The loss puts the Pacers at 3-12 (2-6 CSAC) while the hosts improved to 8-8 (5-4 CSAC) with the win. Kendall Harris led Marywood with a game-high 20 points.

A back-and-forth affair throughout the game's first five minutes of play, Centenary took a 10-8 lead on a three-pointer from Max Hughes at the 14:40 mark of the first half.  That sparked a 10-1 run for the Cyclones, who kept their lead at at least five points until a three from Ryan Corrigan got Marywood to within four at 26-22.

Centenary would go up by as many as nine points down the stretch, but Marywood got back to within three (37-34) on a traditional three-point play from Harris with just under a minute remaining.  A pair of free throws from Warren Murphy would put the hosts up 41-34 going into the break.

After Centenary scored the first two points of the second half on a layup by Andy Charles, Marywood rattled off seven straight points to get to within two (43-41) of the Cyclones.  A Hughes trey gave the hosts a bit of breathing room and ended the Pacers' run, but Marywood stayed within five and eventually forced a 50-50 tie on a layup from Matt Tintle.

The Pacers would then take their first lead since early in the first half on a jumper from Shane Kellaher at the 11:54 mark, but Centenary, down 52-50, went on a quick 8-0 run to reclaim the lead.

Once again, Marywood chipped away at the Cyclone lead, and a pair of free throws from Corrigan gave Marywood a 64-63 lead with 1:07 to go, but Centenary's Kyle Malavasi hit a key jumper at the 0:47 mark to put the hosts back up and from there the Cyclones hit five of six free throw attempts while limiting Marywood to just two points to seal the win.

Andrew Andrle and Corrigan each had 13 points for Marywood.  Charles led Centenary with 19 points while Murphy (17) and Hughes (11) both reached double figures as well.  Both teams were hot all night from the floor with Centenary hitting 55.1% of their shots for the game and Marywood hitting 49.1%.

Marywood returns to action Wednesday when they travel to Langhorne to take on Cairn University.  Game time is set for 7:00pm.
