Scranton, PA - King's College countered an eight-point halftime deficit with an eight-point run to start the second half to defeat Marywood University women's basketball 59-55 Monday at the Insalaca Arena. Marywood's Brittany Mang led the game in scoring with 19 points, in rebounds with nine hauls, and in steals with four swipes.

Danielle Terranella netted 11 points and eight rebounds for the Pacers (8-7 overall). Lindsey Schroth and Morgann Haduck each scored nine points.

Despite trailing for the majority of the second half, Marywood made a late run at the Monarchs (10-4 overall) in the final two minutes. Behind nine at the 2:04 mark, Haduck hit two 3-point shots to made it a one possession game with four seconds to go. After missing her first, King's Celia Rader swished her second free throw to ice the Pacers in the waning seconds.

Marywood outrebounded the Monarchs by a 50-39 margin. The Pacers only made 20 percent of their shots in the second half to finish with a 30.3 shooting percentage (20-of-66) for the game.

The Pacers' stingy defense unraveled King's to start the game, holding them to without a field goal for the first 6:49. The Monarchs missed their first 12 shots and didn't make a bucket until Lindsay Atchison hit a 3-pointer with 13:11 in the first.

Marywood's 8-3 lead quickly evaporated. Following the Pacers' first wave of substitutions, King's went on an 11-point run to go ahead 14-8 with 10:03 in the half.

The Pacers battled back, going on an 11-2 run in the final 5:35 of the half. Schroth made a three-point play on a reverse layup that she was fouled on to go ahead 20-16 with 3:09 on the board. Nora Joyce made a jumper on a Haduck assist just before the buzzer to go into the break with an eight-point lead.

King's struggled from beyond the arc in the first half. The Monarchs made 1-of-14 3-point shots (7.1 percent).

The eight-point run to start the second half came to an end when Terranella hit two free throws. On the Pacers' ensuing possession, Mang made a layup at 15:57 that would prove to be the last lead of the game at 30-28.

The Monarchs were carried by four players in double figures. Lindsay Atchison led with 12 points. Katlin Michaels, Jennifer Fabian and Rader each scored 11 points.

Marywood travels to Centenary Wednesday at 7 p.m. It returns home Saturday for a rematch against its only CSAC loss when it hosts Rosemont College at 1 p.m.
