La Plume, PA - Marywood University women's basketball fell to Keystone College 57-49 Wednesday to end its run of five straight CSAC wins. After leading by two at halftime, the Pacers were outscored 33-23 in the second half. Marywood slips to 12-8 overall and 9-2 in the conference, where it sits in second place tied with Gwynedd-Mercy College.
Brittany Mang led all scorers with 18 points on 8-of-16 shooting. Ashley Murray returned to the lineup to total 10 points off the bench.
Maggie Presnal grabbed 11 rebounds for the Pacers. Presnal also contributed with six points.
The Pacers struggled from behind the arc and the charity stripe. Marywood made 43.8 percent of its free throws. It connected on just 2-of-21 (9.3 percent) of 3-point shots.
Keystone's Jazmyne Robinson posted seven assists. The Giants were led by Alyssa Cuomo (16) and Chantel Blake (12).
Keystone made 44 percent of its shots in the second half, and finished the game with 38 percent.
Marywood jumped out to a 10-2 lead over the first five and a half minutes of Wednesday night's contest before Keystone countered with a 15-6 run, taking a 17-16 lead with 6:19 left in the opening half when Cuomo scored on a layup after collecting an offensive rebound. The Pacers went back in front on their ensuing possession and stretched their lead to 26-19 with 2:55 left in the period before the Giants scored the final five points of the half to narrow their deficit to 26-24 at the intermission.
Tiana Cuttino put Keystone up 30-28 at the 15:49 mark of the second half before Marywood used a 7-0 run to hold a 35-30 advantage with 13:07 remaining. With the Pacers leading 38-34, the Giants went on a game-changing, 15-0 run, building a 49-38 lead with 6:08 to play. Marywood cut its deficit to seven points with a pair of free throws at the 3:08 mark, but it was as close as the visitors would get as Keystone avenged a 79-72 loss to the Pacers earlier this month.
The Pacers vie for sole possession of second place Saturday when it hosts Gwynedd-Mercy College at 2 p.m.
