Scranton, PA – A back-and-forth game fell out of the Marywood University women's basketball team's hands late in the second half in an 84-78 loss Saturday to Delaware Valley College. The game featured 18 lead changes, and no team led by more than two possessions until the waning 10 seconds.

Turnovers plagued both teams, as they combined for 55 for the game.
The Pacers committed two in the final 23 seconds and finished with 27 overall.

For the first time this season, the Pacers (6-5 overall) had four players reach double-digits in scoring. Nora Joyce made her Insalaco Arena debut by connecting on 9-of-14 for team-high 20 points. Danielle Terranella chipped in with 13 points off the bench. Morgann Haduck and Lindsey Schroth pitched in with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Maggie Presnal contributed with a game-high 13 rebounds and was two points shy of a double-double with eight points.

Marywood enjoyed its best day of the season from the charity stripe. The Pacers made their first 11 free-throw shots and finished the first half with a 92.9 percent mark (13-for-14). For the game, Marywood was successful on 83.3 percent at the line. Terranella connected on all nine of her free throws.

The Aggies began distancing themselves from Marywood in the final five minutes; however, Marywood kept it within two possessions until the very end. Kelsey Kilpatrick broke open what-would-be-the-game's-final tie with five consecutive points, enunciated by a 3-point dagger with 4:52 remaining.

Joyce helped Marywood inch its way back with a well-needed 3-point play followed by a put-back layup that put the Pacers within one point with 1:04 remaining.

Fouls ultimately doomed the Pacers, and avid free-throw shooting propelled the Aggies in the final minute. Delaware Valley made all eight of its free throws in the final 42 seconds.

Delaware Valley owned a significant advantage from the field. Marywood made a third of its shots (23-69), and the Aggies shot 43.4 percent. Both teams shared similar lines from beyond the 3-point line, making 7-of-19 treys (36.8 percent).

Marywood managed a season-best 20 steals. Schroth and Alexa Gerchman led the Pacers with five swipes.

Delaware Valley's Brenna Coll scored 30 points in a winning effort. Agatha Drozd pitched in with 16.

Schroth recorded three steals in the first 77 seconds of the game.

For all of the lead changes, Marywood only led by two possessions on two occasions. The Pacers led by five when Haduck hit a 3-pointer to go ahead 26-21 with 6:07 in the first half. A pair of Presnal free throws also gave Marywood a five-point lead with 15:06 remaining in the second half.

Spring semester additions to the Marywood roster deepened its bench. The Pacers' bench held a 43-11 advantage over the Aggies. The Aggies did not score any second-chance points in the second half, and Marywood kept an 18-4 lead in the category for the game.

Marywood returns home Monday when it hosts Keystone College at 6 p.m. The battle with the Giants will be broadcast live on WQMY in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area.
