Scranton, PA - Ryan Corrigan scored a season-high 25 points but it was not enough as Marywood fell to visiting Keystone 86-71 in CSAC men's basketball action Monday evening at the Insalaco Arena. The Giants improve to 6-5 overall with the victory and 3-1 in conference play while the Pacers fall to 2-10 on the season and 1-4 in the CSAC.
Keystone opened the game with a 13-2 run over the first 4:27 and stretched their advantage to 20-6 when Greg Westry drained a three-pointer at the 13 minute mark. Duncan Lunsford's field goal with 9:03 remaining in the period put the Giants' lead at 24-12, and Dan Candemeres followed with a trey to push Keystone's advantage to 28-14 with just under eight minutes to play. After Marywood cut their deficit to 32-20, Westry connected on another three-ball to put Keystone's lead up to 15 points with 4:22 left in the stanza.
The Giants would hold a 42-30 lead at halftime after getting 14 points from Lunsford and 11 from Westry. Mike Kelly grabbed eight rebounds in the first half for Keystone, who shot 50 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes of play while limiting the Pacers to 36.7 shooting in the half. Ryan Corrigan scored 11 points in the opening period to lead Marywood.
Keystone scored the first nine points of the second half to stretch their lead to 51-30 with 17:28 left on the clock to hold a 21-point advantage following a Westry three-pointer. Marywood used a 10-3 spurt to cut the visitor's lead to 54-40 with 13:42 remaining before Candemeres hit from downtown to push the Giants' advantage back to 17 points before adding another three-pointer minutes later to give Keystone a 20-point cushion, 62-42, with 12:36 left on the clock.
Marywood used another 10-2 spurt to narrow Keystone's lead to 64-52 with 10:13 remaining in regulation., but the Giants countered with a 9-2 run to put to rest any hopes of a comeback by the Pacers as a layup by Candemeres put Keystone's lead at 73-55 with 6:23 to play. The Giants would cruise the rest of the way to secure their second-straight win
