McManus' Four Goals Leads Marywood Past Cedar Crest

Allentown, PA - Leann McManus scored four goals, including the game-winner, as Marywood avenged a 2012 overtime loss to Cedar Crest College with a 8-1 win over the Falcons Wednesday afternoon in CSAC field hockey action.  McManus now stands tied for second in the Pacers' record books for goals in a single season with 15 thus far.  She trails Lauren Wynne by just one goal.  Marywood improved to 3-11 (2-2 CSAC) with the win while Cedar Crest fell to 0-13 (0-3 CSAC).

McManus started the scoring early for the Pacers, scoring just 2:23 into the contest on a feed from Kathryn Morin.  Six minutes later, the Falcons knotted the score at 1-1 with a unassisted goal from Emily Rodenberger.  McManus then tallied the Pacers' next three goals to put the game away.

In the 17th minute, McManus scored the eventual game-winner with an assist from Julie Kowalski.  Just before the half (33:32), McManus put home a feed from Gabriella Bower.  Three minutes into the second half, McManus closed her scoring on the day with a helper from Danielle Higgins.

Marywood added three unassisted goals from Bower (46:00), Sarah Hindman (46:47) and Amelia Waibel (48:37) before Kiersten Rauch closed the scoring on in the 60th minute with the assist going to McManus.

Natalie Winters made two stops in goal for the Pacers as Marywood out-shot the hosts 54-5 (35-3 on goal) on the day.  Her Falcon counterpart made a game-high 27 saves in the loss. 

Marywood returns to action Saturday at 4:00 pm with a key CSAC matchup against Immaculata University in Scranton.
