Marywood Comes Back to Oust Mighty Macs

Immaculata, PA – Marywood University overcame a two-set disadvantage to defeat Immaculata University 3-2 Wednesday in Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball action. The Pacers won by scores of 21-25, 18-25, 25-17, 25-21, 15-10 to improve its record to 13-8 overall and 4-2 in the CSAC.

Immaculata started the match strong claiming the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-18. However, Marywood came fighting back with a 25-17 win in the third and 25-21 victory in the fourth set to tie the match at 2-2. The Pacers set the early tempo in the fifth set getting ahead 10-3, and the visitors went on to win the deciding set, 15-10.

The Pacers had four players register double-digit defense performances. Rachel Tollett tallied a team-high 16 digs. Ashley Cavellier (13), Kelly Chadwick (12), and Mackenzie Goodwin (10) all contributed for the Pacers.

Mikayla Bristol garnered 12 kills on 40 attempts. Ashley Zalewski reached double figures for the third straight game with 10 kills. Amy Kester led Marywood with a .333 attack percentage with eight kills on 18 attempts.

Courtney Murray carried Marywood up front with three solo blocked shots and six blocked assists.

Marywood returns to the court Saturday for a CSAC tri-meet in Allentown against Cedar Crest College and Keystone College.
