Hackettstown, NJ - Kris Kassel scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick to lead Marywood University to a 2-1 victory Wednesday over Centenary College in the Pacers' Colonial States Athletic Conference men's soccer opener. Kassel was successful on the penalty kick in the 61st minute to break open a 1-1 tie.

Marywood advances to 4-2-2 overall with a 1-0 record in the CSAC. Centenary falls to 3-5-2 overall and 0-1 in the CSAC.

Christian Lawlor put the Pacers ahead earlier in the third minute when his shot got past the goalkeeper for an unassisted goal. Lawlor netted his second goal of the season and now has five points on the season.

Centenary evened the game on a penalty kick of its own in the 15th minute. Quinn Khouri put one past Justin Sunseri to make it a 1-1 contest.

Sunseri picked up the victory with one save. Centenary goalkeeper Jesse Goleman made four saves and allowed both goals.

Marywood outshot the Cyclones by a 12-5 rate. Centenary owned a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. Daniel Hull had a team-high four shots.

The Pacers host Immaculata University Saturday at 4:00 pm.
