Marywood Settles for 4th Draw of Year at Gwynedd

Gwynedd Valley, PA - Marywood University settled for their fourth draw of the season as the Pacers and host Gwynedd Mercy University drew 0-0 after 120 minutes of scoreless women's soccer action Tuesday evening in Gwynedd Valley.  Marywood moves to 5-6-4 (5-1-3 CSAC) with the tie while Gwynedd Mercy stands at 3-9-4 (3-3-3 CSAC).

Gwynedd nearly scored on a breakaway seconds into the game, but Marywood keeper Victoria Pezdirtz stuffed the attacker at the top of the 18-yard box to keep the game scoreless.  Marywood's best chances to score came on an Alixandria Fiore direct kick in the first overtime that GMU goalkeeper Jess Tadley punched off the goal line and when Krista Capelli's long cross barely missed the head of Elizabeth Carlson before Tadley picked the ball up safely.

Marywood out-shot the hosts 14-12 on the night and held a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal.  Pezdirtz made four stops while Tadley also had four saves.  The Griffins picked up one "team save" when a defender cleared the ball off the endline.

Marywood returns to action Saturday with a 1:00 pm game at Neumann University in what is a key game for CSAC playoff seeding.
