Scranton, PA - Marywood University's men's and women's swimming and diving programs each improved to 2-0 on the year as the Pacers downed visiting King's College Friday evening in Scranton.  The women edged the Monarchs 142-120 while the men were dominant in their 196-58 win.  It is the first time in the four year history of the swimming and diving programs that both the Pacers' men's and women's squads started the season 2-0.

Marywood's 200 medley relay team of Catherine Anlas, Kim Petersen, Katie Paterson and Valerie Barlow won the opening event in 1:56.70, beating King's College's A team by just under three seconds (1.59.61).  Marywood's men's 200 medley relay team of Daniel Adams, Chris Brown, Ryan Widenor and Anthony Pisano also won, finished in 1:41.15. 

In the 1000 free, Paterson won the women's race in 11:22.01 while Kayleigh Velott finished fourth in a time of 12:29.70.  Jason Beabout won the men's 1000 free in 10:14.03 while Zachary Haney finished second in 10:17.90 and Eddie Sanborn III finished third in 10:36.04.  In the 200 free, the Monarchs' Brigid Wynn won in 20:06.88, edging teammate Patricia Manning (2:10.33) and Marywood's Olivia Hower (2:11.78). Joseph Buderwitz won the men's 200 free for Marywood in 1:52.57, narrowly beating teammates Pisano (1:53.43) and Bryon Scholl (1:54.08).

Velott finished second in the 50 backstroke for Marywood in 32.49 while Marywood again finished 1-3 in the men's race with Adams winningin 26.03.  In the 50 breaststroke, Petersen won the women's race in 33.44 to beat fellow Pacer Hailey Moorehead (33.74) while Chris Brown won on the men's side in 29.44.  In the 100 butterfly, Widenor took the men's race in 55.24 and Alyssa Desiderio finished third in the women's race in 1:10.27. 

In the men's 50 free, Scholl and Paul Kraycer tied for first with a time of 23.71 and Anlas won the women's race in 25.55 for the Pacers.  Paterson and Barlow finished second and third, respectively, in the 100 free while Adams won the men's 100 free in 49.73.  Anlas was again victorious for Marywood in the 100 backstroke (1:03.76) while Shanahan won the men's in 57.86.

Petersen (1:12.56) and Brown (1:04.68) won the 100 breaststroke for the women and men while Beabout returned to the top of the podium in the 500 free after touching in 4:58.23.  Hower, Desiderio and Katherine Ciszek finished second through third in the women's 50 butterfly while Thomas Missal won the event for Marywood in 24.83.  In the 400 IM, Patricia Manning of King's edged Paterson (second) and Petersen (third) while Haney won the men's in 4:26.00. 

To close out the evening, Marywood's 200 freestyle relay team of Barlow, Velott, Tiffany Smith and Anlas won in 1:46.47 while the men's team of Adams, Beabout, Scholl and Sanborn III won in 1:32.67. 

In exhibition diving, Heather Wimmer scored a 211.4 and Peter Inirio scored a 131.7 to lead Marywood on the 3-meter board.  Inirio's 131.7 was a new Marywood men's record.  Zachary Lewis scored a 129.75 and Thomas Muscarello scored 96.55.  Gabrielle Creazzo scored a 166.95 while Tiffany Mathis (158.6) and Morgan Walters (133.7) also dove. 

Marywood returns to action November 1 and 2 at the Thomas Murphy Invitational at Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland.
