Scranton, PA - Host Marywood University clinched the #2 seed in the upcoming CSAC women's tennis championships with a 9-0 win over Cedar Crest College Friday afternoon in Scranton.  Marywood improved to 10-1 overall and 9-1 in CSAC action with the win while Cedar Crest fell to 8-7 (5-4 CSAC) and must now beat Immaculata (6-3 CSAC) tomorrow to qualify for the playoffs as the #4 seed.

The Pacers opened the match by sweeping doubles action.  The Pacers' #1 duo of Carly Leitzel and Melissa Hudock won 8-4 while both Marywood's #2 team (Megan Nastelli and Kristen Lambert) and #3 team (Rebecca Lukasak and Avery McCall) won by scores of 8-2.

Leitzel continued her dominance on the day with a 6-0, 6-1 win at #1 singles and Hudock followed at #2 with a 6-4, 6-2 win.  Nastelli was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at #3 and Lambert won 6-2, 3-1 after her opponent retired in the middle of the second set.  Lukasak (five singles) and McCall (six singles) also won for Marywood to make it 9-0.

Marywood enters the CSAC tournament as the #2 seed for the second consecutive year.  The Pacers will hope for a repeat of last year's Championship run where they upset top seeded Gwynedd Mercy. The Griffins are again seeded #1.  Marywood will take on #3 Cabrini College at a time to be determined on Friday, November 1 at the Legacy Tennis Club in Philadelphia.
