Gwynedd Valley, PA - Marywood University's Colonial States Athletic Conference field hockey playoff prospects became more complicated after a late second half Gwynedd Mercy University goal downed Marywood 2-1 Saturday. The Griffins clinched their ticket to the CSAC playoffs, while the Pacers find themselves in a three-way tie for the fourth spot in the playoffs with Keystone College and Neumann University.

Gwynedd Mercy scored with 3:21 remaining in regulation when Katie O'Neill deflected Stepanie Bacho's shot over goalkeeper Natalie Winters' head to provide the game-winning goal.

After Gwynedd Mercy got on the board in the game's first five minutes, Julie Kowalski netted an equalizer for Marywood when she found the back of the cage at the 18:01 mark.

Winters did nearly everything she could to push the Pacers into the playoff picture. She sent away 12 Griffins shots in a losing effort. Her counterpart Kelly Kruk made three saves for her 39th career victory. Two Pacers also recorded defensive saves in the loss.

The Griffins join the Cabrini College in the CSAC playoffs. A three-way tiebreaker for the remaining two playoff spots will be on the dock if: Marywood defeats the Giants Wednesday at 4:00 pm at the Riverfront Sports Complex in Scranton; Gwynedd-Mercy defeats third-place Immaculata University; and Neumann defeats Cedar Crest.
