Haney Sets 200 Free Record in MSWIM Win Over Miseri

Scranton, PA - Zachary Haney won two events which included setting a new school record in the 200 free as Marywood's men's swimming team downed Misericordia 127-78 Friday evening at Marywood's Aquatics Center in Scranton.  On the women's side, Katie Paterson also picked up two wins but the Pacers fell to the Cougars 131-73.  The men move to 5-2 on the year with the win while the women fall to 3-5.

Haney's time of 1:47.76 set a new school mark for the Pacers in the third men's race of the evening.  Marywood won the first four events to build an early lead.  In the 200 medley relay, the team of Brian Shanahan, Chris Brown, Thomas Missal and Anthony Pisano finished first in 1:41.45 to edge the team from Misericordia (1:42.31).  Jason Beabout then won the 1000 free in 10:23.01 before Haney established his new school mark in the 200 free.  In the 50 free, Pisano finished first in 22.32.

Shanahan had a strong second place showing in the men's 200 IM (2:08.42) before Ryan Widenor, Missal and Brown finished first through third, respectively, in the 100 butterfly.  Pisano picked up a second place showing in the 100 free (50.02), barely falling to Misericordia's Pete Kolokithias (49.66).  in the 200 backstroke, Haney won in 2:02.70 and Shanahan finished third in 2:09.40, while Beabout won the 500 free in five minutes flat and Eddie Sanborn III finished in third in 5:09.72.  Brown won the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:25.15.

On the women's side, Paterson won the 200 free (2:03.15) and the 500 free (5:29.26).  Catherine Anlas won the 50 free in 25.68 and would later finish second in the 100 free (56.84).  Kayleigh Velott finished third in the 200 backstroke (2:29.50) while Kim Petersen finished second in the 200 IM in 2:25.02.  Marywood's 200 medley relay team of Anlas, Petersen, Paterson and Tiffany Smith finished second in1:56.06.

The Pacers return to the pool Sunday with a non-conference meet at Cabrini College. Marywood and the Cavaliers will take to the pool at 1:00 pm.
