Washington, D.C. - Marywood University's men's swimming team stunned Catholic University of America as the Pacers upset the Cardinal 104-101 Sunday afternoon in Washington, D.C.  Marywood's women fell to Catholic by a final score of 125-74.  The Pacer men are now 3-2 on the year and 1-0 in Landmark Conference meets while the women fell to 2-4, 0-1 Landmark.

The men began the day with a big upset in the 200 medley relay and the Pacers held off the Cardinal from there.  Marywood's 200 medley relay team of Daniel Adams, Chris Brown, Thomas Missal and Anthony Pisano finished in 1:41.36, just .26 ahead of Catholic's team (1:41.62).  In the 1000 free, Jason Beabout finished less than three seconds out of first place, touching in 10:10.97. 

Zachary Haney finished second in teh 200 free (1:49.02) before Pisano won the 50 free in 22.25.  Andy Blevins and Ryan Widenor finished 1-2 in the 200 butterfly with Blevins winning in 2:03.38 and Widenor finishing second in 2:06.89.  Adams then won the 100 free in 49.27 and Haney finished second in the 200 backstroke (2:03.54) to keep the upset bid alive.  Beabout was again second in the 500 free (4:55.89), barely losing to Catholic's Guido Saccaggi (4:55.76).  Brown finished second in the 200 breast (2:26.88).

Marywood's "B" 400 freestyle relay team sealed the win by coming in third.  Marywood's "A" team of Haney, Bryon Scholl, Beabout and Adams finished second in 3:20.24, but the "B" team of Joseph Buderwitz, Alex Martino, Paul Kraycer and Andy Blevins finished in 3:26.18 to keep Catholic from gaining any more points and sealing the win for the Pacers.

On the women's side, Catherine Anlas, Kim Petersen, Katie Paterson and Valerie Barlow teamed to win the 200 medley relay in 1:55.91.  Anlas won the 50 free in 25.51 and Peterson was second in the 200 IM (2:24.64).  Petersen would later win the 200 breaststroke in 2:39.69.  Kayleigh Velott picked up a second place finish in the 200 backstroke after touching in 2:27.95 and Paterson was second in the 500 free (5:35.49). 

Marywood returns to action on November 9 when they travel to Madison, New Jersey to take on Landmark foe Drew University at 1:00 pm.
