Cabrini Tops Pacers in CSAC Volleyball Semis

Radnor, PA - Marywood University's quest for a Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball title fell short Thursday in a 3-0 loss at the hands of top-seeded Cabrini College. Cabrini advances to its sixth straight CSAC tournament final and will face Neumann for an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
 
The Cavaliers won by scores of 25-10, 25-16, 25-14. The Cavaliers wasted little time in the first set. With the scored tied at 4-4, Cabrini went on a nine-point run to take a 13-4 lead en route to a 25-10 set win.
 
Cabrini stayed hot in the second set. The Cavaliers scored 10 of the first 14 points. The Pacers never got to within five points in the Cavaliers' 25-16 win.
 
Marywood pressured in the third set. The Pacers kept themselves within arm's reach; the Cavaliers held a one-to-four point advantage over the Pacers for most of the set.
 
The Pacers were led by their pair of first team All-Conference players. Ashley Zalewski totaled nine kills and had a team-high .231 attack percentage. Fresh off her CoSIDA/Capitol One Academic All-District award, Rachel Tollett added 12 digs.
 
Senior Danielle Carrozza led the Cavaliers with 15 kills. Michele Fitz added 11 kills, and Kelly Guarino was a kill away from a double-double with nine kills and a match-high 16 digs. Sophia Sokolovich and Kristy Riley each supplied 10 digs.
 
Both the Knights and Cavaliers met in each of the past two CSAC championships.
 
Marywood's season hangs in the balance. With an 18-11 overall record, the  Pacers are eligible for admission in the ECAC Playoffs.
