Men's Soccer - 11/8/2013 1:07:00 PM

Scranton, PA – Top-seeded Marywood University will vie for its first Colonial States Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Championship Saturday when it hosts second-seeded Centenary College Saturday at 1:00 pm. The Pacers are playing in their third CSAC title game in four seasons.

Both the Pacers (13-2-2) and Cyclones (11-5-3) enter Saturday's match at the Pacer Turf Field as the two hottest teams in the league. Marywood has won 10 straight matches and went undefeated in conference play, and Centenary is unbeaten in its past nine contests.

Saturday's winner will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Both the Pacers and Cyclones have never reached NCAA postseason play.

Marywood advances to the championship game after a 3-1 semifinal victory over Neumann Thursday. The Pacers received goals from Christian Lawlor, Daniel Hull and Paul Fedorczyk. Hull leads the league with 13 goals on the year, and Daniel Lopez has a CSAC-best 11 assists this season.

Centenary moved to the finals after edging third-seeded Cabrini in penalty kicks. After drawing to a 2-2 tie after 110 minutes, the Cyclones needed eight rounds to put away the Cavaliers with a 6-5 shootout. Luis Marin tied the game with less than 25 minutes remaining. Antonio Cabrera hit the game-winning penalty kick after Jesse Goleman stopped Cabrini's eighth shooter. Quinn Khouri leads the Cyclones with 19 points on seven goals and five assists.

In their only previous meeting of the season, Marywood defeated Centenary 2-1 on the road on Oct. 2. Kris Kassel scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 61st minute. Lawlor tallied Pacers' first goal in the third minute on an unassisted try. Khouri evened the game on a penalty kick of his own in the 15th minute. The Pacers outshot the Cyclones by a 12-5 margin.

Marywood coach Dawson Driscoll will appear on NBC Sports Radio's The Sports Hub Saturday morning at 9:15 a.m. The show can be heard locally in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area on 102.3 FM or online at www.sportshub102.com/.
