Men's and Women's Swimming Best Drew in Landmark Action

Madison, NJ - Marywood University's swimming men's and women's swimming teams enjoyed victorious Saturday's with the men beating Drew handily while the women won a much tighter match.  On the men's side, Marywood improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in Landmark Conference meets with 147-48 win over the Rangers.  Marywood's women improved to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in Landmark action with a much tighter 109-96 win.

Marywood started the meet off on a strong note with wins from tehir men's and women's 400 yard medley relay teams.  The women won in 4:37.79 while the men touched first in 3:52.72.  Katie Paterson then kept the women ahead with a win in the 1000 freestyle (11:13.69) while Joseph Buderwitz won the men's 1000 in a time of 10:34.51.  Bryon Scholl finished second for Marywood in the 1000 (11:23.24). 

In the men's 200 free, Marywood took first through third places with a win from Eddie Sanborn III (1:56.27), a runner-up finish from Ryan Widenor (1:57.54) and a third place showing from Michael Stauffer (2:05.38).  Catherine Anlas then won the women's 50 free in 25.49.

Zachary Haney won the men's 200 IM in 2:05.06, besting teammate Daniel Adams by just over two seconds.  Buderwitz won again in the men's 100 butterfly, finishing first with a 58.03, while Chris Brown (2nd, 59.33) and James Weber (3rd, 1:04.23) helped complete yet another Marywood sweep. 

Anlas won again in the 100 free (56.53) while Scholl picked up another win for the men with a time of 51.76 in the 100 free.  Paul Kraycer earned a win in the 100 backstroke (1:01.12) while Paterson won the women's 500 in 5:35.49 and Haney won the men's 500 in 5:04.28.  Kim Petersen won the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.23 and Brown finished second in the men's 100 breaststroke (1:05.47), barely losing out to Drew's Thomas DiGuglielmo (1:05.34). 

Marywood closed the meet with wins in the 400 free relay from both the women (3:50.33) and men (3:30.26).

Marywood returns to action next Friday when they host Misericordia University at 6:00 pm.
