Aggies Deliver Pacers' First Loss of 2013-14

Box Score Doylestown, PA - Marywood University dropped the first game of its 2013-14 campaign in a 78-64 loss at Delaware Valley College. The Aggies have ended each of the past three Pacer season-opening winning streaks of six games or more, previously delivering Marywood's first loss in 2007 and 2009. Marywood falls to 7-1 before embarking on the Vegas Hoopla Tournament on Dec. 29-30. 

Nora Joyce led the Pacers with 16 points with four 3-pointers. Brittany Mang contributed 12 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Carly Leitzel tied for a team high seven boards. 

Morgann Haduck provided seven assists to complement a 10-point effort. 

Marywood outrebounded the Aggies by a 43-35 margin. The Pacers collected 20 offensive rebounds to Delaware Valley's eight that contributed towards 15 second-chance points. 

The Pacers controlled the pace in the first half, holding a 22-17 lead with 8:10 remaining in the first half. Over the next five minutes, Delaware Valley went on a 16-1 run to take a 33-23 lead. Kelsey Kitpatrick hit a 3-pointer just before the buzzer to put the Aggies ahead 42-27 at the break. 

Marywood made it a two-possession game at 48-42 with 13:25 remaining. A 10-2 run by the Aggies erased the Pacer comeback, and Marywood never came within single digits of the lead for the remainder. 

The Pacers travel to Las Vegas to take on No. 3 Amherst College, the defending national champion on Dec. 29. The following day, Marywood will face Eastern Connecticut State.
