Scranton, PA - Marywood University hung tough with #6 Cabrini College for much of the first half but in the end the Cavaliers defensive pressure and hot shooting was too much as the visiting team posted a 90-71 win over the Pacers Wednesday night at the Insalaco Arena.  Cabrini improved to 7-0 (2-0 CSAC) with the win while Marywood fell to .500 at 3-3 overall and 1-1 in league play.

Fran Rafferty had a game-high 28 points that included a 6-of-10 effort from long range. He was one of four Cavaliers in double figures, as Aaron Walton-Moss added 17, Brennan McCann had 11 and Corey Frizzera had 10.  Marywood's Matthew Clark, Kendall Harris and Shane Kellaher all had 13 points.

Cabrini jumped out to an early 20-11 lead over the game's first six minutes but the Pacers kept close with some strong play of their own and eventually tied the game at 27-27 thanks to a three from Ryan Corrigan.  Cabrini extended their lead back to seven before Marywood got to with five, 41-36, on a Daniel Tintle three.  A Jonathan Velazquez three was nullified by a Cavalier foul, and Cabrini then closed the half on a 9-2 turn to go into the break with a 50-40 lead.

Marywood hit 88.9% of their shots from three in the opening half (8 of 9) and was 52% from the floor.  Cabrini was 67% from the floor and 54% from three point range.

In the second half, only Cabrini's defense stiffled the Marywood attack, limiting Marywood to 41% from the floor and just 11% (1 of 9) from long range.  That proved to be the difference maker as the sixth-ranked team in the country extended their lead throughout the second frame.

Cabrini finished the game with 57% shooting from the floor and 46.2% from the floor while Marywood hit 46% from the floor and 50% from three.  Cabrini held a decisive 35-21 lead in rebounds and got a game-high 11 from Walton-Moss as he completed his double-double.

Marywood returns to action Saturday when they host Rosemont College in CSAC action at 3:00 pm.
