Haduck's Go-Ahead Three Scripts 18-Point Comeback over Griffins

Gwynedd Valley, PA – A Gwynedd Mercy University buzzer beater circled along the inside rim and miraculously jutted out of the net to supply Marywood University its first women's basketball victory over the Griffins since 2008-09. The Pacers came out on top 80-78 to end a six-game slide against Gwynedd Mercy. Marywood (5-0, 2-0 CSAC) stands undefeated through five games for the first time since the 2009-10 season.
 
Morgann Haduck sank a go-ahead 3-pointer with 39 seconds remaining after trailing by as many as 18 points in the second half. After the Griffins' Kelsey Yori split a pair of free throws at the other end, Haduck came to the free-throw line with a 79-78 lead. She sank her second free throw to give the Pacers a two-point lead with three seconds on the scoreboard.
 
Gwynedd Mercy's Lauren Smith heaved a last chance shot from 27 feet out that rolled around the inside of the rim before hiccupping out of the net to solidify the Pacers' comeback victory.
 
Danielle Terranella posted her third double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Terranella made 7-of-11 shots from the field and led the Pacers with three steals. She has reached double digits in all five games this season.
 
Brittany Mang totaled 16 points to go with four assists. Ashley Murray also reached double figures for the fifth time with 12 points.
 
Haduck finished with nine points. Maddie Lavery had the only hot hand in the first half for the Pacers, scoring seven of her nine points.
 
Trailing 51-37 with 15:31 remaining in the game, Ashley Murray scored a second-chance layup off Courtney Murray's offensive rebound and Alexa Gerchman's assist to start the Pacer rally.
 
Marywood made its way back into contention, trailing 59-56 with 9:23 left, thanks to a nine-point rally off two Ashley Murray 3-pointers and an old-fashioned three-point play from Terranella. Gwynedd Mercy (1-5, 0-2 CSAC) held back, growing its lead to eight with 3:30 left, before the Pacers engineered another run. Just over a minute to go, Terranella put the Pacers within a score at 77-76 off an and-1 chance.
 
The Pacers struggled mightily from the floor in the first half, shooting 31.4 percent from the field and going 2-of-10 from 3-point range. Gwynedd Mercy had a 15-point run in the first half to go into the break ahead by nine.
 
Both teams finished with a 38 percent of their field goals made. The Griffins outrebounded the Pacers 50-43 and held onto a slight 8-7 edge in 3-pointers. Marywood was more successful from the charity stripe with a 73.9 percent showing to Gwynedd Mercy's 63.6 percent.
 
Courtney Murray had three blocks. Gerchman contributed with four assists.

Natasha Matthews had 21 points for the Griffins. Nicole Dougherty scored 16 points, and Yori added 10 points.
 
Marywood will look to stay undefeated Saturday when it returns home to take on Rosemont College at 1:00 pm.
