Aston, PA - Fifth-ranked Marywood University received plenty of offensive help from its down-low players as they combined for 41 points in the Pacers' 74-64 victory Monday over No. 4 Neumann University in the first round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball playoffs. With the victory and sixth-ranked Keystone College's upset of Rosemont College, the Pacers face No. 2 Gwynedd-Mercy in the semifinals Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Maggie Presnal produced her second double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Lindsey Schroth contributed 13 points and was instrumental in the Pacers' full-court press of the Knights. Danielle Terranella was a rebound shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine boards.

Nora Joyce added nine points to lead Marywoood to its third consecutive CSAC semifinal appearance.

Free-throw percentage proved to be a deciding factor in the game. Marywood bucketed 26-of-35 (74 percent) free throws. Neumann shot just 38.7 percent (12-for-31) from the charity stripe. Presnal made 9-of-12 attempts.

The Knights outrebounded the Pacers by a 53-41 margin. Marywood shot 41.8 percent from the field and held Neumann to 34.3 percent.

Marywood went on a nine-point run that broke open a 17-8 lead midway through the first half. Terranella ignited the action when she put back a missed shot to go up 12-8. Schroth provided instant offense off the bench, generating two steals that led to breakaway layups.

Terranella produced two nearly identical plays on back-to-back possessions. She twice caught open offensive rebounds on the weak side and dumped it in for buckets that put Marywood ahead 25-15. Neither team gained any traction on each other until a defensive breakdown allowed Terranella to find a wide-open Joyce in the corner for a 3-pointer that put Marywood ahead 39-26 three seconds before the half.

Marywood's defense came out of the second half holding the Knights to without a field goal for the first 5:33. The Pacers then proceeded to go cold for the next six minutes as Neumann crept to within five points at 49-44 with 7:18 left in the game. Terranella continued to make big plays with an and-1 that ended the Pacer scoring drought. Presnal and Carly Leitzel each made a pair of free throws to put the Pacers' lead back into double digits.

With the win, the Pacers avenge a 77-64 loss to the Knights on Feb. 3.
