Pacers Fall to Knights in Close CSAC Battle

Scranton, PA - Visiting Neumann University rallied from an eight point halftime deficit to defeat Marywood University 64-60 in yet another close battle between the two teams. The Knights took Monday's matchup in Aston by a final of 74-71 in overtime.  Tonight's win mvoes Neumann to 11-11 overall and 10-5 in CSAC play while the Pacers, whoe got a game-high 17 points from Ryan Corrigan, fall to 6-17, 5-11 CSAC.

Just like Monday, Wednesday's league game was a back-and-forth battle as well.  Neumann jumped out to an early 7-0 lead but then went scoreless for over seven minutes, allowing Marywood to stay within reach despite scoring just three points of their own over the opening 9:39. 

Neumann extended their lead to eight, 15-7 before Marywood chipped away at the lead with a 10-0 run over a five minute span, eventually taking a 17-15 lead on a three-pointer from Corrigan with 4:30 left in the opening half.  Marywood would hold the lead the rest of the first half after Corrigan's trey and would go into the locker room with a 31-23 lead. 

After Marywood went up nine (36-27) early in the second half, Neumann used a 13-4 run to get to within one (41-40) at the 13:05 mark.  A three from Andrew Andrle put the Pacers back up four, but the Knights eventually reclaimed a 46-44 lead on a pair of free throws from Reggie Coleman. 

Marywood would tie the game at 46-46 on a layup from Kendall Harris, but Neumann quickly reclaimed the lead and soon found themselves up six.  The Pacers battled back to within two (54-52) with 5:41 to play but a three from Steve Warhola gave the Knights a seven point cushion with 3:38 to go, and Neumann did not relinquish the lead the rest of the way.

Neumann out-rebounded Marywoodo 42-31 on the night and the Pacers went just 3 of 10 from the charity stripe.  Corrigan's 17 came on 7 of 17 shooting including three from long-range while Harris added 15.  Mark Blount led the Kngiths with a double-double after getting a team-high 15 points and grabbing a game-high 13 boards. 

Marywood returns to action Saturday when the Pacers travel to Gwynedd-Mercy College.
