Scranton, PA - Marywood University used a 18-4 run to break open a stalemate to end the game, capping a 51-39 victory over Centenary College Wednesday in the women's basketball home finale. The Pacers break a three-game losing skid to go into the win column for the first time since Jan. 26.

Marywood was tied with Centenary at 35 apiece with 7:57, holding the Cyclones to just one field goal the rest of the way. Maddie Lavery broke open the tie with a jumper at 6:22 left, and the Pacers kept the Cyclones to without a bucket for the final 5:08 of the game.

Carly Leitzel quietly led the Pacers with 10 points. Danielle Terranella was the team's leading rebounder with five rebounds. Morgann Haduck made eight-of-10 free-throw attempts for eight points.

The Pacers produced a 20-6 advantage in steals. Eleven of the 13 Pacers to see action tallied at least one steal, and three players -- Brittany Mang, Lindsay Schroth, Leitzel -- had three. Centenary committed 33 turnovers, compared to Marywood's 18 giveaways.

Both teams struggled off the blocks. The first field goal of the contest wasn't until Ashley Murray hit a 3-pointer with 13:02 remaining in the first half, ending a 1-1 tie. Each team found its rhythm, and, after a back-and-forth first half, the Pacers entered the locker room at a 21-21 tie.

The Pacers scored the first six points of the half, punctuated by a Schroth jump shot to lead 27-21. The Cyclones came storming back tying the game at 29-29 on a Danielle Trucksess jumper. Centenary briefly took a two-point lead at with 8:30 remaining on a make by Melissa Kukoda.

Haduck played a part in the next nine Marywood points.
She hit two free throws to even the score for the last time at 35-35. She assisted the Lavery jumper to take to lead then grabbed a defensive rebound on the next player and drove the lane to force two made free throws. Two possessions later, she went baseline to feed Terranella a pass at the top of the key, who immediately rifled a pass to an open Leitzel for a layup. Haduck finished with a steal, drove the court, and made a free throw to end the run.

Marywood finished with a 28.8 field goal percentage for the game. Centenary outshot the Pacers with a 34.9 percentage. For the fourth straight game, the Pacers struggled behind the 3-point arc, hitting 1-of-14 (7.1 percent) shots.

Marywood sits in fourth place, tied with Neumann in the CSAC standings. It hopes to provide Cabrini its first loss in conference play Saturday in Radnor.
