Langhorne, PA - Marywood University swept Cairn University to open up Colonial States Athletic Conference play as the Pacers out-scored the Highlanders 36-1 over two games. The Pacers won the opener 16-0 and the nightcap 20-1, both in five innings. Marywood out-hit the hosts 37-7 for the day and got wins from Katherine King (2-5) and Alexandra Stine (2-1) in improving to 4-6 (2-0 CSAC) on the year.  Cairn remains winless at 0-7 (0-2 CSAC). 

In the opener, the Pacers scored 16 runs on 18 hits and King went the distance for her second win of the season, striking out eight and allowing just four hits.  After plating five runs over the opening three innings, Marywood exploded for an 11 run fourth to seal the win.  Meghin Palmer was 3-for-4 with three RBI and two run scored while Diana Butash was a perfect 4-for-4.  Kellsie Davis picked up two doubles while Shelby Gallis was 1-for-1 with two-run triple.  Chelsea Epler (2-for-4) also picked up two RBI.

In the nightcap, Stine allowed one run on nine hits while fanning nine Higlander batters.  Marywood scored in every inning with a five run second and nine run fifth highlighting the game.  Bryanna Gifford was 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored while Palmer went 2-for-4 with three runs scored.  Samantha Rayhon, Kathleen Rossi and Butash each had three RBI as part of multiple hit games.  Rayhon had two doubles while Butash and Taresa Dongilli each had triples.

Marywood's scheduled twinbill at Rosemont Saturday has been postponed until March 26 so the Pacers will return to the field on March 19 against the University of Scranton. The Pacers and Royals will play at the Jessup Youth Sports Association Complex in Jessup.
