Gwynedd Valley, PA - Marywood University traveled to Gwynedd-Mercy College Sunday for a CSAC doubleheader and despite being the home team in both games came up on the short end as the Griffins took the doubleheader, winning by scores of 7-1 and 3-0.  GMC moves to 9-5 on the year and 4-1 in CSAC play while Marywood slipped to 3-9, 0-4 CSAC.

In the opener, Chris Ortiz's second inning single was the lone hit the Pacers would manage in a 7-1 loss.  Marywood's Russell Baldino took the loss after allowing three runs on four hits over 5.1 innings of work.  Joseph DiLoreto pitched 0.1 innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and Billy Kelly allowed two runs on two hits over 1.1 innings of work.

GMC's Matt Rakus went the distance, allowing an unearned run in the fifth and just one hit while stirking out five in the win.

In the nightcap, the Griffins scored all three of their runs in the first inning but did not allow Marywood to score at all.  Marywood got six hits in game two, led by Mike Diskin's 2-for-3 effort.  Marywood left eight runners on base in the second game.

Michael Ciavarella took the loss after allowing three runs on six hits over 5.1 innings.  Ciavarella, who struck out four, was replaced by Bryan Noonan who worked 1.2 innings and did not allow a hit.  Rick Elfreth got the win for GMC after going 6 innings, allowing five hits while striking out seven.  Andrew Hill got the save.

Marywood returns to action Tuesday when they host Immaculata University in the remaining game of their three-game set that was previously postponed.  First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
