Lynchburg, VA - Marywood University men's lacrosse was upended by No. 3 Lynchburg College Thursday by a 15-4 score. Lynchburg used a nine-goal run over a three-quarter span to topple the Pacers.

Goalkeeper Nicholas Cornella led all players with seven ground balls. Taylor Goldson picked up six ground balls, and Brandon Terlizzi added five. Terlizzi, who came into the game third in the country in faceoff percentage, continued his success in the circle by winning 11-of-19 opportunities.

Four different players scored goals for the Pacers (0-3). Sam Trill, Ryan Nowell, Stephen Deiner and Richie Manuli each netted a score in the loss.

Cornella made a game-high 19 saves in net. John Werner caused three turnovers.

Marywood battled with the Hornets (4-0) for the first 23 minutes until the nine-goal Hornets run. Nowell tied the game early on at one apiece with a goal at the 8:30 mark.

The Pacers' attack posed problems for Lynchburg in the second quarter. After pair of Lynchburg scores, Trill brought the deficit to one with a man-up goal less than two minutes into the second quarter. Manuli later found the back of the net off a Riley Dobel assist at 7:58 in the second to make it a 4-3 game. Lynchburg's Max Voumard began the Hornet attack 28 seconds later to push the lead to 5-3. Lynchburg added three more goals in the first half to go into the break with a five-goal lead.

Stephen Deiner ended the Marywood drought with 1:29 remaining in the game on an unassisted goal.

Lynchburg held a 50-40 advantage in ground balls over the Pacers. The Hornets outshot Marywood by a 61-24 margin.

Marywood had its best game of the season on clearing opportunities, going 19-for-23 on clears.

Ten different players tallied at least one goal for the Hornets. Austin Stewart led Lynchburg with four goals. Derek Sweet had four assists.

Marywood seeks its first victory of the season Saturday when it finishes its Blue Ridge Mountains Spring Break trip at McDaniel College at 1 p.m.
