Box Score

Fort Pierce, FL - Mark Sherlock scored on a routine grounder in the top of the ninth and Erik Pulkkinen earned his second save of the year as Marywood closed out their spring break trip to Florida with their second consecutive victory, 6-5 over Delaware Valley College Friday evening.  Tyler Lyman got the win on the mound after pitching a scoreless 7th inning as the Pacers improved to 3-5 on the year.  DVC fell to 1-2 with the loss.

The Aggies built a 2-0 lead through five by plating four runs on four hits against Marywood starter Russell Baldino.  Baldino worked six plus innings and struck out four before being relieved by Lyman.  Lyman gave up two hits, one of which scored two earned runs that were credited to Baldino.  Rene Muriel pitched a scoreless eighth for Marywood, allowing one  hit before striking out the side.

Marywood answered DVC in the sixth, scoring two runs there before going up 4-2 in the top of the seventh. The Aggies again answered, scoring two runs in the bottom  half of the inning to tie the game up.  Marywood reclaimed a 5-4 lead in the eighth before Sherlock scored the eventual winning run to put Marywod up 6-4 in the ninth.  DVC got one run back in the bottom of the ninth but could not find the tying run against Pulkkinen, who allowed one run on one hit.  Sherlock reached first after being hit by a pitch  and oved to second on a fielders choice.  The sophomore then moved to third during a throwing error and would score on a routine groundout.

Jonathan Woytach was 3-for-5 with a double at the plate and two runs scored while Thomas Richards had two hits, picking up a pair of RBIs on a double and a single.  Pulkkinen had an RBI double and scored a run as well.

Marywood returns to the diamond on March 12 when they play host to Wilkes University in a non-conference game at 3:30pm.
