Westminster, MD – A first-quarter shutout put the Marywood University men's lacrosse team in an inescapable hole as McDaniel College rushed to a 19-10 victory Saturday. Marywood fell behind by four goals in the first quarter and was never able to get within a goal of the lead for the remainder of the game.

Riley Dobel led the Pacers with two goals. Ten other players finished with one point.

Sam Trill and Brandon Terlizzi each contributed defensively with three groundballs apiece.

The Pacers' Nicholas Cornella stopped 19 shots in goals. McDaniel outshot Marywood by a 59-36 margin.

Marywood was successful on 15-of-18 clears. Similarly, McDaniel cleared 13 of its 16 tries. Marywood turned the ball over 18 times, while the Green Terror managed just six turnovers.

After the Pacers fell behind 4-0 in the first quarter, Terlizzi opened up the second with an unassisted goal. Dobel tallied his first goal at 14:11 in the second to cut the deficit to two. The Pacers continued to find its offense at the 11:57 mark when Greg Nester found the back of the net to make it a 5-3 game.

McDaniel's Pat Bivons and Jason Lawrence connected on a pair of goals to put its lead back up to four goals. After Dobel produced his second score, McDaniel finished the half with three consecutive goals, entering halftime with a 10-4 lead.

Marywood failed to gain any traction on the Green Terror as teams traded four goals back and forth throughout the first 25 minutes of the second half. Starting with a Patrick Serio score with 3:04 to go, McDaniel netted five goals over a 1:32 stretch that punctuated the victory.

Marywood returns Northeastern Pennsylvania Wednesday seeking its first win of the season against King's College in Wilkes-Barre Township at 4 p.m.
