Aston, PA - Host Neumann University put together four-run frames in the first and third innings and the Knights went on to defeat visiting Marywood University 9-2 in Colonial States Athletic Conference baseball action Tuesday afternoon in Aston.  Neumann remained unbeaten in CSAC play with the win, improving to 4-0 in the league and 14-4 overall, while Marywood suffered their sixth straight set-back in falling to 3-11 (0-5 CSAC).

After the Pacers went down in order in the top of the first, Neumann got on the board in the bottom half of the inning with four runs, highlighted by a two-run shot to left by Matthew Sheneman.  In the third, the Knights went up 8-0 with another four run outburst, led by Marty Sessa's two-run single up the middle.

Marywood got a run in both the top of the fifth and top of the sixth, the first coming on a RBI sacrfice fly from Stephen Gaylets and the second on an RBI single from Dominic Loughlin, but the Pacers could do little more to generate offense against Knights' starter Russ Gilliam and relievers Ted Fletcher, Jake Yarber and Erik Klimoff.

Jonathan Woytack, Erik Pulkkinen, Louglin and Daniel Hull accounted for Marywood's four hits in the game while Pulkkinen and Chris Ortiz scored the Pacers' runs.

Russell Baldino (0-3) took the loss for Marywood after allowing eight runs, but only one earned, on six hits over three innings of work.  Marywood's three defensive errors proved costly to Baldino and the Pacers, as Neumann scored only two earned runs all game.  Joseph DiLoreto pitched four innings of scoreless two-hit ball for Marywood while Tyler Lyman pitched the eighth.

Marywood returns to action Saturday when they host Valley Forge Christian College in a doubleheader.  Game one begins at 12:00 noon.
