Scranton, PA – Kimberly Commisso scored a game-winning goal with 41 seconds remaining to propel Marywood University women's lacrosse to a 15-14 victory over Gwynedd-Mercy College in the Pacers' Colonial States Athletic Conference finale. Winners of four straight, Marywood (6-7, 6-2 CSAC) secures third place heading into the CSAC playoffs and will host Centenary College next Saturday.

Tied at 14-all, the Pacers received possession with 1:41 remaining after Casey Gaughan threw the ball away. A Stacy Griffing shot directly in front of the net was saved, and Commisso weaved around the defense to net the game-winner. Leigha Dolcemascolo fashioned a brilliant save with 10 seconds and collected the ground ball to cement the Pacers' victory.

Commisso scored a season-high six goals for the Pacers. She also tallied a team-high seven ground balls and 20 drawn controls.

Sarah Caughy totaled three goals and two assists for five points. Both Griffing and Kathy DiGiacomo garnered three points on two goals and an assist.

A soccer player new to the sport of lacrosse, Emily Osborne scored her first career goal for the Pacers. Dana Grossjung also scored a goal.

Dolcemascolo picked up the win with seven saves. Mary Ninivaggi caused a team-high two turnovers.

It was a tight contest between the Pacers and the feisty Griffins (3-12, 2-6 CSAC). Gwynedd-Mercy outshot Marywood 29-27. Both teams collected 23 ground balls. Marywood, led by Commisso, won 20 of 31 draw controls. Marywood turned the ball over one more time than Gwynedd-Mercy (19-18), and both teams were successful on 100 percent of their free-position shots.

After falling behind in the early going, Marywood went on a seven-goal run in the first period to collect a 7-2 lead with 18:06 on the clock. Gwynedd-Mercy responded with a five-goal spark of its own to tie the game at 7 apiece off the stick of Dani Horn with 57 seconds remaining. The stalemate was short-lived as Commisso scored an unassisted goal 27 seconds later to go into the half with an 8-7 lead.

The second half was a back-and-forth affair but the Griffins never held the lead during the course. Marywood led by as many as two when Commisso produced a pair, giving the Pacers a 14-12 lead at the 8:55 mark.

Gwynedd-Mercy's Danae Perrymond and Amy Powell scored twice in a 9-2 second span to tie the game at 14-all with 6:09 remaining. Both teams tightened up their defenses until Ilze Spilde created a game-changing turnover in Gwynedd-Mercy territory to end an offensive threat with less than two minutes.

Marywood hosted a Think Pink event in remembrance of Marilyn Glenn and in support of all breast cancer patients. Glenn, mother of former women's lacrosse and field hockey athlete Carrie Glenn '10, was a proud support of Pacer athletics and lost her four-year battle with breast cancer on Jan. 1, 2012. One hundred percent of the proceeds went to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

The Pacers honored seniors Spilde and Kelly Kryspin in their Senior Day.

Marywood returns to action Wednesday in its regular season finale in a home non-conference game against No. 12 Susquehanna University at 7:00 pm.
