Baseball Drops Non-Conference Tilt at Wilkes

Kingston, PA - Wilkes University built an early lead visiting Marywood was never able to overcome and the Colonels went on for a 14-7 non-conference win over the Pacers Sunday afternoon at Artillery Park in Kingston.  Wilkes improved to 19-11 with the win while Marywood, who got two hits from Daniel Hull, fell to 11-18.

Wilkes built a 5-0 lead over the first three innings of play before Marywood could get on the board.  The Pacers cut the host's lead to 5-2 with a two-run fifth and then to 6-5 with a three-run sixth but Wilkes pulled away with a six-run seventh to seal the win.

Thomas Richards picked up an RBI double in the 4th for Marywood and Daniel Hull had an RBI single in the inning to account for the two Marywood runs.  In the fitfth, Richards picked up a sacrifice RBI to center while Jonathan Woytach and Dominic Loughlin each singled in a run.

Hull was 2-for-4 with and RBI while Richards led the Pacers with two runs batted in.  Bryan Noonan (0-3) took the loss for the Pacers after four innings of work where he allowed three earned runs (six total).  Tyler Lyman and Rene Muriel each pitched two innigns for the Pacers.

Marywood returns to the diamond Wednesday with a non-conference game at Penn College at 4:00 p.m.
