Scranton, PA – Despite holding Gwynedd-Mercy College to six combined hits over two games, Marywood University dropped a doubleheader to the Griffins Sunday in Colonial States Athletic Conference action. The Pacers dropped the first game 2-0 before losing the night cap 3-2.

Marywood falls to 15-11 overall with a 13-5 conference record and currently sit in fourth place in the CSAC standings. Gwynedd-Mercy moves to third place with a 16-12 overall record and 14-4 mark in conference play.

The Pacers enjoyed strong pitching performances from Alexandra Stine and Katherine King. In the opener, Stine received no offensive support in a two-hit, six-strikeout outing over seven innings where she surrendered two earned runs. King also allowed two earned runs and four hits while striking eight out over the course of seven innings.

Mariah Runco earned the only multi-hit affair in game one with a 2-for-3 outing at the plate. Marywood's Meghin Palmer and Diana Butash each recorded two hits during game two. Butash and Dana Prudente scored the Pacers' only runs on the day. Chelsea Zimmerman and Kathleen Rossi each had an RBI.

Marywood was held to five hits in each game by Gwynedd-Mercy's Ashley Lamont. Palmer added two stolen bases to her 2-for-4 performance.

The Griffins went on top in the first inning in each game. Stephanie Farrar manufactured both Gwynedd-Mercy runs in the opener with a double to left in the first and a home run in the seventh. Later in the nightcap, Ave Bolli slid around the catcher on a fielder's choice to third base to score the go-ahead run in the sixth inning.
