Scranton, PA - Marywood University downed visiting Centenary College 7-4 in Colonial States Athletic Conference baseball action Friday afternoon in Scranton to help keep their playoff hopes alive.  With three teams vying for the fourth and final playoff berth, Marywood needs to sweep Centenary in this weekend's three-game series and get help from Cairn, who is playing Immaculata, in order to clinch that fourth seed.

Michael Ciavarella was dominant on the mound over 7.1 innings in picking up his third win of the season.  Ciavarella (3-3), who left with a 7-1 lead and runners on the corner, allowed three runs and nine scattered hits that never really threatened the lead his offense provided.  Joseph DiLoreto struck out two and allowed one run on two hits over the final 1.2 innings.

Marywood jumped all over Centenary over the first three innings, getting a two-run single from Daniel Hull with the bases loaded in the first, a RBI single to center from Erik Pulkkinen in the second, and a towering two-run homerun to right from Dominic Loughlin in the third.

Centenary got one back in the top of the fifth but Marywood answered with a bases loaded walk in the bottom half of the frame, then shut down a rally attempt by the Cyclones in the 8th.

Jonathan Woytach, Thomas Richards and Hull each had two hits to lead Marywood while Loughlin led the Pacers with his two RBI.

Marywood and Centenary close out their series Saturday with a twinbill slated for a 12:00 p.m. start.  The game is being played at TD Bank Stadium in Bridgewater, New Jersey.  Even with a sweep of the Cyclones on Saturday, Marywood would need Cairn University to knock off Immaculata University in order to give the Pacers the fourth seed or to force a three-way tiebreaker amongst Marywood, Centenary and Immaculata.
