Radnor, PA - Host Cabrini College won a tight opening game 10-7 and then cruised to a 9-2 win over visiting Marywood University Friday afternoon in CSAC softball action.  The Cavaliers improved to 11-9 in the CSAC with the wins (12-20 overall) while Marywood slipped to 15-13 (13-7 CSAC) and now must face league-leading Neumann Saturday.

Marywood grabbed an early 3-0 lead in the opener in the top of the first thanks to some timely miscues from the Cavaliers' defense.  Cabrini got two back in the bottom half of the inning and tied the game at 4-4 in the third with two runs.

Marywood went up 7-4 in the fourth but the hosts plated five in the bottom of the fifth to reclaim the lead.  Cabrini then added an insurance run in the sixth to make it 10-7.

Diana Butash was 3-for-4 in the opener with a double.  Mariah Runco was 1-for-3 with a solo homer in the third.  Alexandra Stine took the loss in the opener after striking out eight over six innings of work.

In the nightcap, Cabrini jumped all over the Pacers, scoring nine runs on 13 hits in a 9-2 win.  Meghin Palmer was 2-for-3 for Marywood with a run scored while Runco was 2-for-4 in the nightcap.

Katherine King took the loss on the mound after allowing eight earned runs on 13 hits in a complete-game.

The Pacers take on the Knights Saturday at 12:00 noon in a doubleheader.  Marywood will assure themselves a spot in the CSAC post-season with at least one win against the Knights, who enter the contest with an unblemished 20-0 mark in league play.
