Scranton, PA - Host Marywood University handed visiting Neumann University their first CSAC loss of the season and in the process clinched themselves a berth into the 2013 softball post-season.  Neumann won the opener 6-1 but Marywood rallied and took home a 3-2 win in the nightcap, assuring themselves a spot in the playoffs.  The Knights are now 26-14 overall and 21-1 in league play while Marywood moved to 16-14 overall, 14-8 in CSAC action.

Up 2-1 after four innings of play in the opener, Neumann used a three-run third to break the game open and went on to win, 6-1.  Meghin Palmer and Stephanie Bagniewski had two hits apiece for the Pacers while Katherine King (7-8) took the loss for Marywood.

Lauren Wilkie improved to 13-4 on the mound for the Knights after throwing a complete game, allowing just five hits and one earned run while striking out two.  Allie White and Danielle Grayson each had two RBI for Neumann while three Knights had a multiple hit game.

In the nightcap, Marywood took a 2-0 lead but the Knights battled back to tie the game at 2-2 in the fifth.  In the bottom of the frame with a runner on first, Marywood took advantage of a Neumann miscue and scored on a three-base error after a failed pick off attempt.  Then, in the top of the seventh, Diana Butash made an incredible diving catch to secure the first out before Alexandra Stine snagged two sharp hits by the pitchers mound to put the game away.

Stine (9-6) got the win after allowing seven hits and two runs over a complete game.  Meghin Palmer was 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Bryanna Gifford and Samantha Rayhon each picked up RBIs for the Pacers.

Marywood will close out their regular season with a non-conference doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Wilkes University.  The first picth is set for 1:00 p.m at Artillery Park in Kingston.
