Scranton, PA – Marywood University broke a six-game slide with a pair of wins against Valley Forge Christian College Saturday at Pacers Field. The Pacers held the Patriots to three hits in each game to notch their first victories since their Ft. Pierce, Fla. trip.

A five-run sixth inning blew open a 10-2 victory for the Pacers (5-11) in the first game. Marywood topped Valley Forge 12-1 in the nightcap.

Daniel Hull led the Pacers by going 5-for-8 with seven RBI over two games.

In the first game, Marywood scored two runs in each of the first two inning and held on to a two-run lead before blowing the game open late. Hull tallied three hits, a triple and four runs. Erik Pulkkinen contributed a 3-for-3 outing with two runs. Thomas Richards manufactured two RBI.

Brian Nargi earned a win in relief, pitching four innings of one-hit ball while striking out four and allowing no runs.

In the second game, Marywood recovered from an early one-run deficit – thanks to a Sam Sheesley leadoff triple – with 12 consecutive runs. Billy Kelly gave up one run in six innings of work, allowing just three hits to notch a win.

Zack Klien went 3-for-3 with five RBI and a run for the Pacers. Hull doubled twice and supplied three RBI. Thomas Richards went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Pulkinnen scored three runs.

Valley Forge (0-13) was carried by J. Boothman's two hits and an RBI.

Marywood looks to extend its newfound winning streak Sunday at home against Gwynedd-Mercy College at 3:00 pm.
