Scranton, PA – Alexandra Stine hit a walk-off single in a come-from-behind victory in the bottom of the seventh inning as Marywood took both games of a doubleheader Sunday against Notre Dame University of Maryland. The Pacers took the first game 17-0 in five innings before scratching out a 3-2 victory over the Gators in the nightcap.

Stine struck out 13 batters in the second game, while allowing one earned run in seven innings to pick up the victory. Stine left nine runners on base in a low-scoring affair. She helped her cause with the bases loaded and singled to shortstop to bring home the winning run in the seventh.

In the first game, Mariah Runco homered and drove in five RBI as part of a 3-for-4 performance at the plate. Meghin Palmer went 4-for-4 with three runs, and Kathleen Rossi also had four hits with four RBI.

Diana Butash and Chelsea Epler also produced three hits in game one for the Pacers (9-9, 7-3 CSAC). Four players – Palmer, Runco, Kellsie Davis, Butash – tallied three runs.

Katherine King picked up the victory for Marywood, allowing one hit and no runs over three. Stephanie Poveromo came in for her first appearance of the season, holding the Gators (5-16, 1-10 CSAC) scoreless over two.

The Marywood bats fell silent in the second game, held to three hits through the first five innings. Samantha Rayhon had the only multi-hit performance for the Pacers with two.

The Pacers' Shelby Gallis singled home the game's first run in the bottom of the fourth. After two strikeouts to start the top of the fifth, Notre Dame responded with two runs. Cara Corsaro looped a single over the head of the third baseman to tie the game at one apiece. An error in left field off the bat of Laura Kaufman gave the Gators' a 2-1 lead.

In the top of the seventh, with the Gators still holding one to its one-run lead, Stine struck out two batters with the bases loaded to set up the comeback. After the first batter popped out in the bottom of the seventh, Chelsea Zimmerman singled to shortstop to ignite the offense. Runco hammered a ball to left field for a single to set up a Butash looped down the left line that tied the game.

Marywood continues its Colonial States Athletic Conference schedule Monday for a doubleheader at Rosemont College at 3:00 pm.
