Immaculata, PA –  Sarah Caughy scored the game-winning goal with 13 seconds remaining in double overtime to lead Marywood University to a 18-17 victory over Immaculata University Tuesday in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's lacrosse action. Caughy led the Pacers with a Pacer season-high seven goals to give the Mighty Macs their first conference loss of the season.

Caughy's goal was the only scored in the second overtime period as the Pacers (3-7, 3-2 CSAC) staved off a late Mighty Mac comeback. Immaculata (7-4, 3-1 CSAC) scored two goals in the waning minutes of regulation and held the Pacers scoreless for the final 12:23 of the second half to force overtime. After Marywood collected a possession after an Immaculata shot hit the post, Caughy wrapped around the set and shot it past the goalkeeper as Mighty Mac defenders forced her away from the net.

Stacy Griffing added four goals and an assist for the Pacers. Kathy DiGiacomo produced three goals and an assist, and Kimberly Commisso contributed two goals and three assists. Leigha Dolcemascolo made eight saves and six ground balls to notch a victory.

Mary Ninivaggi made her Marywood debut with a team-high six caused turnovers and three ground balls. Emily Osborne picked up her first career ground ball.

The Pacers held a 40-30 advantage in shots, and the Mighty Macs controlled the ground ball game with a 32-26 edge. Marywood kept Immaculata to three free-position shots and zero free-position goals.

Immaculata's Allison Jakavick created seven points off five goals and two assists. Nicole Behrndt made 11 stops to lead her team to overtime.

Commisso won 17 draw controls as the Pacers held a 23-15 advantage over Marywood.

The victory marks the first double-overtime victory in school history. Previously, the Pacers only played in one double-overtime affair – an 11-10 loss to Cedar Crest in 2008. Marywood's last overtime victory was a 12-11 win over Elmira College in 2011.

Immaculata managed to overcome an early hold to enter halftime at a stalemate. Marywood jumped out to a 5-1 lead through the first 15 minutes of the first half, capped by a Griffing score off a free-position attempt. The Mighty Macs stormed right back with four consecutive goals to even it before Griffing put a cork in the Immaculata run at 3:15 remaining. Immaculata's Katie Cook struck successfully with four seconds to enter the break tied at 6-6.

Marywood earned an early cushion in the second half when Carly Kliment scored on a free-position shot at 24:54 to make it a 9-7. From there, Immaculata kept it a back-and-forth lead until Griffing found the back of the net on another free-position shot to go up 15-13 with 12:24 to go. Immaculata's Danielle Lopez and Cook engineered the late comeback with the latter tying the game at 15 apiece with 6:12 remaining.

The Mighty Macs' overtime lead from Caitlin Caruso was short-lived as Caughy tied it up 27 seconds later at 4:51. Commisso gave the Pacers a lead another 22 seconds later before Caruso scored her second overtime goal with 3:47 on the board.

Marywood returns home Saturday to host Notre Dame (Md.) at 1:00 pm.
